The Saturday slate of Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) games begins with the Archers taking on the Redwoods at 7:15 p.m. eastern time on Peacock streaming.
The Archers began the 2021 campaign 3-0, but have since lost their last three. Each loss was by just a single goal. So while the Archers’ score differential sits high above the rest of the league, they currently sit fifth in the standings.
Offensively, attackman Grant Ament leads the league in points with 26, and assists with 18. Fellow attackman Will Manny has 20 points of his own, good for fifth in the league at his position. Midfielder Tom Schreiber has tallied 19 points, making him the third highest point earning midfielder in the league.
The Archers offense also ranks first in power play.
Defensively, the Archers hold the No. 1 unit, giving up 9.7 goals per game. As such, they are the only team in the league giving up fewer than 10 goals per contest. Their penalty killing unit checks in at No. 3, killing off 75 percent of opponents’ man-up opportunities.
Goaltender Adam Ghitelman has made 61 percent of his save opportunities in the cage, giving up just 41 goals against in six appearances.
The Redwoods come to Weidner Field winners of two straight and atop the PLL standings.
Attackman Rob Pannell has led the Redwoods offense in 2021. His 24 points leads the team, as do his 13 assists.
As a team, the Redwoods hold the league’s second highest score differential, behind only the team they will face on Saturday night- the Archers.
The ‘Woods enter the weekend second defensively giving up 11.3 goals against on average.
All-Star MVP Tim Troutner has made 58 percent of his saves this season, and his 83 total saves is good for third in the league.
Face-off specialist TD Ierlan has won 66 percent of his draws as a rookie. For his efforts putting the Redwoods No. 1 in face-off percentage, Ierlan was named a 2021 All-Star selection.
